The entire cast and crew of “Despierta América” are under quarantine after multiple people have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Karla Martínez has confirmed that she tested positive for COVID-19. Martínez is now the second co-host of “Despierta América” to test positive for the coronavirus. While some other cast members on the show have disclosed testing negative for COVID-19, multiple crew members from the show have tested positive. The Spanish-language morning show tapes live from Miami.

Last week, the show began to air remotely after Alan Tacher, the Mexican television host, announced that he and his wife tested positive for COVID-19. That is when the cast and crew began to initiate testing for themselves.

On Friday, Martínez said she was feeling under the weather but thought she had the flu. She took a coronavirus test and said she would share her results with her followers.

“Hi my loves,” Martínez wrote on Instagram on Friday. “I send you a strong hug. I am writing to tell you that I am fine. I am at home because yesterday morning I felt bad, I have symptoms of the flu; congestion, body aches and I’ve had a little fever. Just yesterday, I did the COVID-19 test, and they told me that the results take time to arrive. As soon as I have them I will share them with you. I have not been on the show because at times I suddenly feel weak and without energy. I hope I feel better to be with you tomorrow. I just wanted to tell you that I am fine, positive as always, and very calm. God has always been in control of my life, just as He is right now. Whatever the outcome, I have faith that everything will be fine. Thank you for your expressions of love, your support, and your prayers. Take care of yourselves and God bless you.”

Martínez hasn’t been active on social media, but her colleagues confirmed that she had indeed tested positive for COVID-19. Co-hosts Raúl González and Francisca Lachapel said they both have tested negative.

Luz María Doria, Vice President, and Executive Producer at “Despierta América,” shared on Instagram how they will be conducting the show from home.

She writes, “Start a new week working from home. Since last Wednesday, we received the news that Alan Tacher and his wife tested positive for the coronavirus, the days fly by between calls, emails, conversations in chats, and last-minute change. The focus is to protect our @despiertamerica team while still producing a program that informs, helps, and never fails to bring hope and joy.”

Last week, Tacher shared that he and his wife tested positive for COVID-19. He said on the program that he wasn’t sure how they were infected. They have since been in quarantine away from their children. They continue to update their followers on social media saying that they’re still experiencing mild symptoms.
