The decision undoes the Trump administration’s massively unpopular policy responsible for the separation of more than 5,500 children from their parents at the U.S-Mexico border.
The demeaning reference dates back to 1789 in US law and is overused by right-wing conservative media to vilify undocumented immigrants in the country.
"Immigrants shouldn't have to risk their lives for citizenship. But it's telling that for the US even doing that isn't enough," immigration nonprofit said.
