Radio Host Who Told Latinos to Speak English Dropped From Broadcast Station

The pro-Trump radio host, with thousands of followers on social media, was let go from her radio program after yelling at Latinos for speaking Spanish. 

Since the presidential election, countless videos of white people berating Latinos for speaking Spanish have surfaced and gone viral. The latest was filmed by radio host Dianna Ploss. In the video, Ploss is filming herself on a street while discussing how restaurants have taken their seating outside, taking up car lanes in order to adhere to social distancing rules. She then begins talking to the men who are constructing the new outdoor seating area because she hears them speaking in Spanish. 

“It is America, you should be speaking English,” Ploss tells the men. “You should be speaking English. They work for the state. You should be speaking English.”

Ploss continues to harass the workers and asks if any of them are “illegal.” She then asks who hired them and says that building outdoor seating is socialism. The incident took place on Main Street in Nashua, New Hampshire, where she conducts her radio program “The Dianna Ploss Show.”

A man asks Ploss why she’s harassing the workers, and Ploss responds by saying, “He’s a Black man, and he’s going to protect the brown man from this white woman who’s practicing white privilege because she happened to walk by and heard this guy talking to all of these guys, doing this work, in Spanish.”

A spokesperson for WSMN, who broadcasts her show, announced earlier this week that they would no longer air “The Dianna Ploss Show.”

“Dianna Ploss is no longer associated or affiliated in any way with WSMN or Bartis-Russell Broadcasting, LLC,” they said in a Facebook post. “We at WSMN value freedom of speech, freedom of expression and assembly. We will not tolerate discrimination, racism or hatred. We continue to present and offer on air opportunities for discussion, education and the exchange of opinions and ideas.”

Ploss’ social media pages are filled with pro-Trump propaganda. She has 43,000 followers on Facebook and more than 34,000 on Twitter. On Facebook, Ploss calls herself an “America First Activist.” Two days ago, Ploss said on Facebook that she hired security because people have allegedly threatened her life. 

Tom Morin, who owns the private company that hired the Spanish-speaking workers, told The New York Times that he was thankful for the support. 

“I believe that we can all take immense pride in how quickly the community rallied to demonstrate that this type of behavior is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” Morin said.
